Measuring Shadows to Learn About the Sun

Grade five students at EES have been stepping outside to measure their shadows.

Measuring their shadows at the same time on different days led to some interesting observations.

What's going on with the sun? 

During the year, the Earth's position doesn't stay the same in relation to the sun, and as a result changes the length of shadows.
