Fifth Grade Literacy Projects

Students in Ms. Bonanni's class have been working on identifying non-fiction text structures in order to determine the important information in complex non-fiction texts, and to make a graphic representation of that information. Students also planned a mini presentation to teach the class about the big ideas in their texts, and to work on their presentation skills.

The two students above are reenacting the mummification process to teach the class about all the steps involved.

Students in these photos worked on building marshmallow and toothpick towers to learn more about architecture and what made buildings more stable as people were racing to build the tallest tower.

One student builds a description web to teach the class about different classes of hurricanes.
