Animal Research and Reports


Third and fourth graders have been studying informational texts. As part of this unit, students learned how to write their own informational texts on animals that they were interested in researching.


Their final products included a table of contents, several chapters, and informational text features including glossaries.

Students made covers which included the title and author's name. Cover illustrations could zoom in on a particular feature of the animal or could explore the inner systems, such as the animal's skeletal structure. Students used a border to create emphasis.
