Scratch Games in Tech Integration Class

Over the last month in Tech Integration, fifth graders tried their hand at some complex programming through a platform called Scratch.

Scratch was created by students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology to allow for amateur programmers to create a wide range of coded projects by using the code embedded blocks they provided.  Our fifth graders created simple"Frogger" style games.  Although our students followed similar instructions to create such games, the end results were very different from one another.

Students who finished early were challenged to enhance their games by changing the program in some way.  This lesson allowed students to try their hand at programming; an ever expanding and growing field in our country.  Programming passions were ignited for some of our EES students.  Please open these links below (in a new tab or window) to try out their games yourself.

Instructions for Play:  Click on the green flag icon to get the game started.  Using the arrow keys try to get the frog across the two lanes of traffic to get the critter on the other side.  Keep going back and forth across the street to get more points! Click the green arrow again to replay!
